Paint.NET using for IMVU

Hello again, since been a while I'm not updating my blog. I was just quite busy since I got a new job and my timetables are very tight. Since my left, 3 days ago I had received a message from IMVUians, she asks to help her up about how to use Paint.NET. I try to reply to her using imvu2go android but when I check its back through my laptop didn't send it to her.

From her message what I understand is, she couldn't found the paint.net web. She had read my tutorial I’d shared in #IMVU forum and I think she interested in using Paint.NET application. I had tried to reply to her using imvu2go I just installed to my phone but unfortunately, it did not send to. So I already reply to her last night and told her that I will write on my blog to help her out.

Hello, Koniechy here some guidelines on how to get paint.net. I hope I can help you out. Regret to inform you that I cannot post it in #IMVU forum because I had un-install my client and the forum not allow me to post without login to the client.

Oraite! don't waste our time lets go to the topic. First thing first you need to download the application from www.getpaint.net.com (easy access click here) follow the arrow where you can download the application;

once you succeed download the application, open it and you will have a basic paint.net application; here you can play around with the application using tools from the menu. For the issue, Koniechy looking for is how to make a baby hair which needs her to get jitter, motion blur & wobble from the plugin center. The plugin should in the Effect menu.

If in the Effect menu, not show any of the effects you need to use for your creating, you can download it from plugin center which is in Paint.Net forum > Paint.NET Programming / Developing (easy access click plugin here). You also can direct to the forum from the application, go to menu bar > Help > Plugins.

You can download any plugin tools from there. But it will be difficult for a person like Koniechy to find what she looking for because the plugins she looking for comes with a folder of plugins file. In an easy way, I need to find back what plugin I downloaded from the forum index.

I don't remember which one plugins I downloaded, it's from several great programmer/developer, its actually was from Pyrochild's plugin (click pyrochild here) and the other plugin I had download is the BoltBait's plugin (click BoltBait here) and also from Ed Harvey's Plugin (click Harvey here). My advice to read the forum on how to use the plugin on the canvas. And those plugins above, are the best. How to download and save the plugin files in Paint.NET Directory? Here I got the tips from BoltBait Dot Com how to install plugin files.

After you find what plugin you looking for (don't forget to donate to them for the developer's effort providing us free plugin). Click the download link to download the plugins.

Once the download started the above window will appear. Choose to save and pick the location you want to save the file/folder.

After you are done with the download, proceed to open. This will open the folder location where you have to save the download file. You will find the plugin files (DLL files) there;

Now, we need to move the plugin files into the Paint.NET Directory. Select and copy all .dll file inside the folder (using ctrl + A and Ctrl + C).  To open the Paint.NET Directory, go to Computer > Local C > Programs Files > Paint.NET. Also, from Dekstop right-click from the Paint.NET shortcut at your desktop and go to the properties; refer to the picture below to guide you.

Follow where the cursor pointed; from tab Shortcut > Find Target > Open File Location to open your paint.net directory.

The Paint.NET directory;

Double click on Effects folder and paste all files copied from the folder downloaded from the plugin center.

after pasting the copied files into the Effect folder. Close the directory. To test if the plugin is already in the application, close and re-open the Paint.NET application. Open paint.net, go to Effects menu check the plugin;

You need also to look around for your plugin in the Effect menu because it will load in submenus or some automatically save in the Adjustment menu. BoltBait Dot Com also advises that if its happen you don't see the plugin in the Effect or Adjustment menu, you need to unlock the .dll file you need to go .dll properties to unlock and you might need to do it one by one to each file. Hope this issue won't happen to you.

Why I like this software? because it easy for me to learn and polish my skill after a very long time I left using PS. Paint.net forum with wonderful and great people sharing plugins, knowledge, tutorials, and tips. There is the place I learn more about paint.net.

To Koniechy, I hope this will help you.

Thank you to BoltBait Dot Com for the guideline on how to install plugins.

  1. Paint.net is (at least in our opinion) the simplest option on the list. It still comes with a ton of powerful features like layers, adjustments, and user-created plugins, but is simple enough that complete newcomers can grasp it immediately. The features are across the top, and filters are accessible from a drop-down menu.
    Some of the special effects are pretty cool: sharpen, blur, distort, emboss, etc. You can even get some Instagram-esque vintage effects in there for good measure. We don’t want to waste too much time on this one. It’s got a lot of features, an easy interface, and a simple layout. If you’re struggling with others on this list, then stick with the easiest option.
